Quilting with Children
Quilt

Lisa Hetzel's Project

Lisa writes:

"I had a blast quilting with my fourth graders. We made memory quilts. First, we read all kinds of read alouds and non-fiction books about quilts. We talked about the history of quilting and purposes for our quilts. We decided to make a small wall hanging. Students collected squares from fabrics that were special to them . We had ladies from a local quilting guild come in to share their quilts and stories (and coach us through our projects). We played around with small pieces of construction paper to decide which pattern to design. Even though it took more time than I had predicted, it was so much fun. The kids gave them as Christmas presents."
